This poster was inspired by a day trip that I took to Charleston, SC. I had recently bought my own DSLR and wanted to capture interesting landscapes. As I walked through the town, I couldn't help but just think of the terrible stench of those horse carriages--which are everywhere you turn. Eventually I strayed off the main roads and found myself in a very sketchy alleyway, just a few feet away from the luxury boutiques! I couldn't believe the extreme divide between these classes, who both shared the same territory.

I found this position of the photo to be the perfect centering of the street, with the palm trees seemingly leading the eyes towards the center of the image. I used photoshop to edit the image and Illustrator to add the text elements. I also explored the use of illustrative type, which was very fun to play around with and gave me a better understanding of how type anatomy affects legibility and readability.
